Online Tutorial - Statistics on the TI-83

Descriptive Statistics on the TI-83

  1. After entering the data into a list, press the STAT key and use the Right Arrow key to highlight "CALC", and then press ENTER.

  2. Select 1, "VAR - STATS", by pressing the 1 key (or ENTER).

  3. Type in the name of the list (e.g., to type in L2, press 2nd and 2), then press ENTER.

  4. A list of statistics will appear. Use the Down Arrow key to see all the stats.

Note: "Sx" is the sample standard deviation and "sx" is the population standard deviation.

If you have two sets of data that are the same size you can calculate the descriptive statistics for both at the same time by selecting "2 - VAR STATS" in Step 2. When you enter the two lists, they must be separated by a comma (e.g., "2 - Var Stats L1, L2"). The stats for L1 will appear first followed by the stats for L2.
