Writing Center Tutorial - Preparing a Portfolio

Preparing a Portfolio

In your English 101 and 102 courses, you will be asked to prepare a portfolio for your professor.

A portfolio contains a Cover Letter, and 2 Revised Essays. The purpose of the portfolio is to emphasize to students the importance of revision and often serve as a helpful motivator, to provide a final-assessment measure that is more than a hurdle, but rather a useful exercise for students, and to ensure cohesion across sections of English 101 and 102.

Once you have turned in your portfolio, the grading process is as follows: your instructor will meet with the two other instructors in your grading group; at least one of the other instructors must pass your portfolio in order for you to receive a passing grade; finally, your instructor will decide your final grade.
